Program notes:

“Metamorphosis" holds a mystical reference for me as the music traverses a series of dynamic transformations and dramatic forms.  The single word title for each of the four movements (Beginning, Becoming, Awakening, and Fulfilling) represent stages of transformation.  The music is designed to actively change and evolve, mirroring the journey of personal “metamorphosis” by having shifts in tempo, dynamics, texture, and harmony throughout the piece.

“Metamorphosis” was written in 2023 originally for soprano saxophone, bassoon, and piano, commissioned by Post-Haste Reed Duo (lead commissioner) and 12 consortium members.
