Once Upon a Time- for cello and orchestra (2021)
Duration: ca. 6'
Dedicated to cellist James Todd, "Once Upon a Time" is a musical illustration of a magical fable. It begins with a lyrical piano introduction supported by the atmospheric warmth of the string section, which is soon joined by the solo cello.
The initial lyrical theme gradually transforms into a robust and animated middle section. The solo cello’s virtuosic upper range is showcased with melodic lines that are interwoven within the vivid and pulsating orchestra parts. This section also reflects my fondness for Jazz and Gospel music.
“Once Upon a Time” closes with the return to the gentleness of the original theme.
I hope you will find joy and a little sprinkling of magic when listening to it!
"Once Upon a Time" also exists as a piece for cello and piano.
