Program Notes:

Inspired by Latin music, “Quasi Brazilian” employs a rhythmically complex mixed meter that alternates between 7/8, 5/8, and 4/4. The juxtaposition of unison passages, comprised of simple and compound subdivisions, creates an exciting and exotic mood while moments of lyrical motifs appear subtly throughout the piece.
